JCCTA RECEIVES USTA EQUIPMENT GRANT

The Jefferson County Community Tennis Association (JCCTA) has received a United States Tennis Association equipment grant of new 60’ balls and Gamma Revolution balls, two 18’portable nets and 24 23” rackets for use by JCCTA to help with Jefferson County school tennis and recreation programs.  The equipment will be housed at the Jefferson County Recreation center in Port Townsend for use in County Rec programs.  It will be available for homeschool programs and to supplement existing school PE equipment.  JCCTA, Jefferson County Parks and Recreation and Jefferson County Family YMCA all cooperatively share equipment to help meet the needs of various tennis programs throughout the year.

The new equipment is ideal for teaching tennis to third through sixth graders and for children playing on the 60’ short court at PTHS.  JCCTA members and community volunteers are needed to help with programs.  If you would like to volunteer your time to help children learn and enjoy tennis, please email admin@jeffersoncountytennis.com, or call County Rec at 385-2221, or Jefferson County YMCA at 385-5811.  In addition, JCCTA can coordinate a Quickstart or PE training sessions by the USTA for teachers and community volunteers interested in teaching or recreational coaching.
